How to make a killer website


1st Template

Every website needs an awesome template. You can get a free one, get one from a web host, or pay some guy to make one for you. The template is the look of the website. You need a good template to make a positive message. The template that you pick will need to have space in the bars to hold all of your pages, cool colors, and awesome pictures. The template is a vital piece of your website puzzle.

2nd Applications

Avoid this section if you’re making a content driven website. If you’re making a website that uses a script as its main purpose you need to be sure that this script can hold the stress of many computers using it. It’s like hiring a store clerk that can handle 20 different people talking to him/her. Using applications/programs/scripts is a great way to attract people to your website and also to keep people on your website. When adding an application to your website you need to make sure it works properly. This means no stopping and no crashing.

3rd Content

The content is vital to the website. The content is like the heart. Without content it’s like Han Solo without Chewbacca or Batman without Robin (even though the last 2 Batman Movies haven’t featured Robin) or President Bush without Vice President Cheney, it just can’t happen. The content is what attracts the viewers, keeps them on the website, and makes the money. You need to have good content. Your application can be the content too. Your written content needs to make sense. Don’t write random stuff to keep your word count up, because random stuff doesn’t make money.

4th Name/Domain Name

The name of the website/domain is what people will type in the address bar. The domain needs to describe your website. You want a .com domain name, but they are hard to get now. Before choosing a domain name, think about possible names and narrow them done. Then check if they’re taken at a domain register. If you’re advertising with a non .com domain make sure to tell the customer the full domain name.

5th Advertising

To make money you need to advertise. You can either pay money to advertise or you can use free methods. Some free methods are to simply tell friends and family. Another way is to post your link on forums and free directories. One way is to sign up for a free web hosting page and then copy your sitemap onto the new page. By posting your sitemap onto a new page you will get more back links and more traffic. A paid way is to enter your website in paid directories and ad networks. You can also purchase custom signs with your website’s domain name on it and set them up around your local area.

Many of you have probably heard of affiliates. With affiliates you can either make 0$ a month to 100,000$ a month little to medium sized traffic. Affiliates work by either you directly signing up with them or you going through some service like clickbank or google adsense affiliates. You make money when either your viewer signs up or performs some action on the affiliate’s website. It depends how much you get paid per action. For downloading a simple software program for free you may be 1$ a download, but for selling a package of software you may get 100$. Many websites focus around one product then have an affiliate with a website that sells it. For example; a website focusing around a special kind of PDA will probably have affiliates to buy that kind of PDA. A good way to make money is to insert relevant affiliate products with your content this way you aren’t over emphasizing a particular product and you still can have relevant banner advertisements.

A subscription website is a website in which people pay (usually monthly) to have acess to a prenium service or prenium content. Subscription Websites must have A++ grade service. No one wants to pay for something that they can get free. Some examples of subscription websites are; dating websites, web hosts, online video games, and web email. Subscription Websites can make alot of money.
For Example, say you own a dating website. You have about 2000 members each paying 5$ a month; that equals 10,000$ a month, and 120,000$ a year! But, these people want results. If only your making 20 matches a month some people are going to leave your service. That's why subscription websites need to have great service, so people spend there money at you rather than the other guy.

I'm going through a renovation on the website, that is why there hasn't been a new post, guide, or the anticapted newsletter. The renovation is going to change a few pages around. So I'm just giving y'all an update.

Woes of a New Website

Many people have some trouble with their new website. Below I will list a few problems and solutions.

1. Your template or WYSIWYG editor is acting up, from experience ingore it. Sometimes it sends out faulty claims. If it keeps acting up, contact your webmaster or support center.

2. Ad code. Some times the ad code can give you some trouble. Keep pasting, then preview until you get it right.

3. Not enough hits, wait, give it some time.

4. "I don't know when I should post the content, I might run out of ideas" Ask the viewers, by setting up a poll and the questions, with some possible answers. You may also want to post the content on your time.

5. "I need more ideas" This doesn't come until your website has a good viewer base. Just brainstorm your websites content. You'll come up with something, if you don't ask Family and Friends. Family and Friends are supportive.

An advertisement-driven website is a website that makes its money by attracting viewers through their content. This is other wise known as known as the; advertisement model. To make this all you need is a topic, bank account, and some sort of website building knowledge or a website builder. For example; say you’re a yoga teacher and you want some extra money for a vacation to China. You can use a webpage builder (they come with many web hosting plans) or you can use your own experience with HTML or XHTML. Once you have written the webpage(s), you can get them hosted with an on internet web host. Now you’re probably wondering “How do I make money?” first you will need to sign up with an ad network. Then you will have to choose what kind of ad you want.
The most common is the banner ad. This is the ad that is a banner that is placed on the webpage’s sidebars. You get paid per impression, or every time someone sees it. This type will keep a steady stream of cash flowing (as long as people are coming).
The second type is the ones that Google Adscene uses, you get paid per click. You get paid more with this, as long as your users click on the ad.
With this last type of ad, you can make the most money only if your viewers purchase it. You might have seen this before, a small square that has a digital camera in it for sale. Well if one of you viewers purchases one of those products you will get a commission.
TIP: When writing your content, make sure there are no spelling mistakes, or if you’re making a game or program test it out before you put it online!
