How to make a killer website


1st Template

Every website needs an awesome template. You can get a free one, get one from a web host, or pay some guy to make one for you. The template is the look of the website. You need a good template to make a positive message. The template that you pick will need to have space in the bars to hold all of your pages, cool colors, and awesome pictures. The template is a vital piece of your website puzzle.

2nd Applications

Avoid this section if you’re making a content driven website. If you’re making a website that uses a script as its main purpose you need to be sure that this script can hold the stress of many computers using it. It’s like hiring a store clerk that can handle 20 different people talking to him/her. Using applications/programs/scripts is a great way to attract people to your website and also to keep people on your website. When adding an application to your website you need to make sure it works properly. This means no stopping and no crashing.

3rd Content

The content is vital to the website. The content is like the heart. Without content it’s like Han Solo without Chewbacca or Batman without Robin (even though the last 2 Batman Movies haven’t featured Robin) or President Bush without Vice President Cheney, it just can’t happen. The content is what attracts the viewers, keeps them on the website, and makes the money. You need to have good content. Your application can be the content too. Your written content needs to make sense. Don’t write random stuff to keep your word count up, because random stuff doesn’t make money.

4th Name/Domain Name

The name of the website/domain is what people will type in the address bar. The domain needs to describe your website. You want a .com domain name, but they are hard to get now. Before choosing a domain name, think about possible names and narrow them done. Then check if they’re taken at a domain register. If you’re advertising with a non .com domain make sure to tell the customer the full domain name.

To make money you need to advertise. You can either pay money to advertise or you can use free methods. Some free methods are to simply tell friends and family. By posting your sitemap onto a new page you will get more back links and more traffic. A paid way is to enter your website in paid directories and ad networks. You can also purchase custom signs with your website’s domain name on it and set them up around your local area.

Many of you have probably heard of affiliates. With affiliates you can either make 0$ a month to 100,000$ a month little to medium sized traffic. Affiliates work by either you directly signing up with them or you going through some service like clickbank or google adsense affiliates. You make money when either your viewer signs up or performs some action on the affiliate’s website. It depends how much you get paid per action. For downloading a simple software program for free you may be 1$ a download, but for selling a package of software you may get 100$. Many websites focus around one product then have an affiliate with a website that sells it. For example; a website focusing around a special kind of PDA will probably have affiliates to buy that kind of PDA. A good way to make money is to insert relevant affiliate products with your content this way you aren’t over emphasizing a particular product and you still can have relevant banner advertisements.

No one wants to pay for something that they can get free. Some examples of subscription websites are; dating websites, web hosts, online video games, and web email. Subscription Websites can make alot of money.
For Example, say you own a dating website. You have about 2000 members each paying 5$ a month; that equals 10,000$ a month, and 120,000$ a year! But, these people want results. If only your making 20 matches a month some people are going to leave your service. That's why subscription websites need to have great service, so people spend there money at you rather than the other guy.
